As your Ayurvedic birth doula…

I accompany you as a complement to your midwife and your birth team lovingly and sensitively on your very personal birth path, before during, and after pregnancy. Every birth is different, and each one is a rite of passage. Whenever a baby is born, so is a mother. Birth truly is a sacred life-changing journey and must be honored as such.

A doula is a non-medical professional who supports birthing women, as well as their families. A doula can be described as a guide, who helps the birthing family as they navigate pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Doulas provide informational, physical, emotional, and spiritual support throughout the reproductive journey.

However, a doula is not responsible for the birth outcome, but for how held and comfortable you feel with her by your side, during all of it.

DiA Doulas in Austria and DONA International have trained me to become a birth doula. Furthermore, I have been trained as an Ayurvedic postpartum doula and an Ayurvedic postpartum cook. With over 11 years of experience in Ayurvedic cooking, as well as being an Ayurveda nutrition and lifestyle trainer, I will support you to stay in balance throughout this journey.

As your doula, I support any form of birth. Whether you want to birth at home, in a hospital, in a birth center, with a partner, without, or with medication, … whatever you want, I will be there for you! To be able to serve you the best way, I may work with a backup doula, to keep all things running smoothly.

I work both in German and English, all my offerings are available in both languages. And I am currently located and working in Vienna (Austria), and online.

What Does A Birth Doula not Do?

As a doula, I do not perform any medical activities or medical consultations. I am therefore not a substitute, but a complement to your midwife, and birthing team. I also do not advise you in the sense of a (life) coach but meet you on the same level - from woman to woman.

What My prenatal Support Sessions Can look like

  • Birth planning - choosing the right care model, and being clear about your birth preferences.

  • Debriefing previous birth experiences.

  • Releasing fears and anxiety so you’re well prepared to welcome this new human into your life.

  • Preparing body, mind, and soul.

  • Learning about comfort measures and positions for birth.

  • Focusing on elements that make you feel empowered, like visualizations and affirmations.

  • Connecting to your intuition and instincts so you can make the right decisions for yourself and your baby.

  • Planning your postpartum period - setting up plans that work for you and your family.

  • Guidance for your partner and her/his new role

  • These sessions are always completely unique to suit you!

What my birth support Can look like

  • As your doula, I will be your advocate during birth. I will hold space for you, respect your birth wishes, and physically and emotionally support you throughout YOUR beautiful birth.

  • Together with your partner, or without, I support you in breathing, circling, sounding, and moving. I am there for you for the entire duration of the birth. I bring you food and drinks and relieve your partner when he/she needs a break.

  • Together with your midwife, I am there for you, sometimes with more commitment, sometimes completely in the background when you and your partner need your quiet togetherness.

  • Every birth will be different, and every birthing person will need something else. I will adapt to what YOU need in each moment, I will care for you, hear and see you through your whole labor. My presence will be exactly what you need, a gentle hand to trust and hold on to.

  • I will suggest different labor positions, as well as comfort measures like touch, abhyanga (oil application), acupressure - or no touch at all, rather maybe movement, dancing, vocalizing, or breathing.

  • I believe in you! I will remind you of your strength, your resiliency, and your innate birthing skills. If it’s what you need, I can also be completely quiet with you.

  • I will be very intuitive and adaptive, and hold the energy of the room.

  • If you wish, I can take pictures and videos during labor, or create a placenta print on paper right away.

  • As your doula, I will not only encourage you but also help your partner with emotional support.

What My postpartum Support sessions Can look like

  • In the comfort of your home, I will support you, the newborn mother. I will share with you traditional fourth-trimester ways so you can rest, heal, and rejuvenate.

  • Postpartum requires a lot more support than most people believe, too often it is underestimated.

  • This deeply nourishing support also includes “small births” and “stillbirths”, as I do not like the term “miscarriage” for it implies that the mother has done something wrong. She has not, and she and her partner need extra support during this transition.

  • I will make you feel seen, understood, and validated during this vulnerable time.

  • In the comfort of your home, I will support you, the newborn mother. I will share with you traditional fourth-trimester ways so you can rest, heal, and rejuvenate.

  • I will come bearing gifts of nourishing, Ayurvedic meals, tea, and herbal remedies specifically for your needs, that you’ll love and be a shoulder to lean on or cry on. We can debrief the birth as often as you like, I can do small errands, or light housework, cook Ayurvedic meals, run you a soothing herbal bath, a gentle sitz bath, show you how to veshtanam (belly-bind), or yoni svedana (yoni steam). I can teach you how to do Ayurvedic baby massage, gentle baby exercises, or how to make Ayurvedic baby soap. I can show you relaxing techniques, offer soothing touch, postpartum womb abhyanga (warm oil application), or I can simply hold your baby so you can rest, heal, eat, shower, and connect with your partner.

  • By nourishing and nurturing you, while you care for your precious newborn, I will help ease this transition.

  • With my Psychology and Ayurveda background, together, we can look at what will bring you balance. Our sessions together are unique and will nourish your soul - we will personalize them to ensure you get the most out of your experience.

  • In this special time, it is good to know, that you are not alone. I am here for you.

“Lisa accompanied me Before and during the birth of my daughter. The day labor started, I contacted Lisa that we were on our way to the clinic to have a CTG done first. I would contact Lisa again. But she intuitively decided to come already anyway and that was good. Shortly after Lisa arrived, my contractions suddenly became stronger and we were in the middle of the birth. I am so glad that she came and listened to her gut feeling. I can't even put Lisa's companionship of the birth into words. It was so so so so incredibly nice to have had her by my side. I felt so well supported. And my partner was also happy that Lisa was there. She took such great care of me during the birth and gave us lots of gifts afterward (homemade tea to promote lactation, a spray for postpartum bleeding, Faster healing and recovery,... and so much more). The midwife on site also reviewed the birth with me the next day and said that she has experienced many births, but that this birth with my doula Lisa was Totally unique. I could not have imagined a more beautiful birth for my daughter. Lisa also photo-documented the birth at my request. I often wake up today with gratitude in my heart because it was a wonderful experience, despite the pain of labor and everything that Comes with it.

I also felt very well taken care of during the time afterward. Lisa advised me very intensively on the subject of Breastmilk flow - here, too, she gave me lots of tips and tricks that you can't read about anywhere. She visited me at home during the postpartum period and Created extremely delicious Ayurvedic food that provided every cell of my body with all the nutrients and greatly supported my regeneration so that I regained my strength. And she also made special lactation balls for Me.

In a welcoming ceremony of my daughter, Lisa also made Prints of my placenta with me, which was a special highlight for me and all participants.

I can only recommend Lisa from the bottom of my heart, she has a lot of <3 & empathy in her work. Her work is worth any money and an investment for health that is sustainable.

Thank you for everything, Lisa.”
